ATF for Civic auto trans

Guys on the Accord forums use MaxLife all the time without issues. I wouldn't use the IMF since I havn't read a word about it. I'd use ML or the DW-1.

I use MaxLife in our Acura with the V-6 transmission, but prefer Castrol's IMV in our Honda with the I-4 transmission. I've used Honda fluid in both, but DW-1 doesn't work that great in either one. I think DW-1 works best in transmissions designed for it, but it doesn't work as well as a backspec fluid, at least in my experience.

LOL dont over think it. Pass on the DW-1 and get Maxlife. You wont look back. It 100% compatible , and works great in these transmissions. The best is , it alters your shift quality a bit towards the positive side. Try it out , if you dont like it , the next drain and fill , use DW-1. Your trans wont explode if you put Maxlife in there, it might thank you though. Both cars in my sig are spec'd for Z1/DW-1 and I use Maxlife to great affect in both of them.

Going to stop by advance tonight and get either the max life or castrol fluid.

thanks for the info Bourne!

I used Maxlife ATF in my Civic 04. I like it better than Z1. I do now know if it's better than Z1 or not but the shift quality wasn't degraded. I saw Valvoline also introduced the ATF for Import vehicle too.

I did pick up some older date coded valvoline full synthetic fluid as advance had it down to 2.25$ a qt.
