I think I am going to start running MC 5000 5w30 in my '06 F150. The specs on paper at the PQIA site are excellent. Apparently, Mobil has been doing the "clean" thing alot longer than Pennzoil. It appears to have more cleaning agents than PYB. Anyway, I read that keeping the VCT components are critical to thier operation and I plan to do 5k OCI's. With GF-5, I don't see any reason not to run conventional oil again.

Just wondering what people experiences have been with this oil.

modularv8, Pennzoil now meets GF-5 while Mobil Clean 500 is still meeting GF-4 for now and both brands are conventional oils and not full sytnthetic. If you want full synthetic, I would recommend Pennzoil Platinum or Ultra, and Mobil 1. Either way, Mobil Clean 5000 is great oil for 5K OCIs.

I've been running synthetic in the truck, but recently decided I will get rid of it in 2014 for something else (new F150?). In the meantime, I want to keep it well maintained (just in case I keep it) but not spend $$ for synthetics. So looking for the least expensive, best quality 5w30 in a brand I trust.

Least expensive nest quality oils are going to be Supertech, Pennzoil, Mobil Clean 5000, Chevron Supreme, Havoline, Valvoline, and Castrol GTX. For oil filters, Proline, Purolator Classic, Purolator PureOne, AC Delco, Supertech, Motorcraft, Valucraft, Napa Proselect.

A friend is feeding 4 of his cabs with 5W30 to 10W40 on this oil. One of them is pushing 800k miles. He prefers Chevron dino for his 2 Town Cars. One of them cabbies' tales I guess. Anyway, it works very well for him.

They can have over that on a bulk oil as well. As long as your maintenance protocol is up to the task for the application you can forget about engines on the Vics. Same goes for the AT. Just keep half a dozen of alternators, fuel and water pumps, sway bars, bushings, radiator or two and you will go over a mil on the engine.
Use Mobilube 1 in the rear end if you really want to keep it long and service once for life. Don't buy retail gear oil.
The fact that the engine has that many miles and god knows how many hours of idle just a testament to the engineering. Any oil will do. I do not use dino: I would have to drain every couple of week. Chevron is also an excellent oil and is/was on sale at OReillys for the same price as M5000 at WalMart. Actually cheaper.

I am running it in my 2009 Impala with the 3.9 engine. I just changed the oil this morning, in fact. I have changed the oil twice since buying the car, and it has only seen MC5K since dumping the factory fill. Unless I decided to switch to a synthetic for a longer OCI, I will probably keep using it for the life of the car. It seems to run fine with it, and I would think it would be fine for you with 5k intervals.

I ran it in my Stratus over winter and personally I didnt like it as much because I noticed a slight drop in mileage. However its the cheapest name brand conventional oils at Walmart so its not entirely too bad.

I've been using Clean 5000 since it came out. The only thing that I do not like about the oil is that the 5 quart jugs have a foil liner that I worry that I will drop into the jug (haven't done this yet however).

For this reason alone, I have been buying the Quaker State jugs as of late...

They use a ring to seal the cap, that can't fall off the jug.

Supertech is $10, Clean 5000 and Quaker State is $10.50 for a 5 quart jug.. Its a toss up between the two "name brand" oils.

My Dad has his 2003 Chevy S-10 and my Mom's 2004 Chevy Blazer oil changed at a local place that only uses Mobil Clean 5000 unless customers bring in their own oil. Neither vehicle has any problems though I am still astounded my Dad puts in STP Blue Bottle Oil Treatment in both. I think it is unnecessary with the oils of today.

I am running MC5000 and like most oils I have no difference, but I also run Motorcraft and I do notice a difference in the oil being so clean aft. 2,000 mile and a bit smoother at first start up. This is on a 03 Mazda which is a 4 and has 90,000 miles on it. Motorcraft is really a sleeper in the 5-20 wt. I feel. This is under severe NYC driving.

Did my first oil change on my new 09' Civic using Mobil Clean 5000. Engine runs smooth as butter w/this oil. I believe this will be the oil I'll use for this car in the future. Very pleased that I dumped the FF early (3750mi.) as the motor runs so much better. Very noticeable improvement, for sure.

I bought an old mercury mystique with a 2.0 that was run it PA all its life. The car is a 99 and only has 50k miles on it so it has done a lot of sitting and short trips. When i got it the oil was as black as tar. You could look at the cam and for the most part every thing was still nice an clean but you could see a small film on the cam were the roller was not touching. The outer edges of the cam lobes. When i say a film, it was kinda just discolored oil. you could rub it and it would come off. Anyway, i had two jugs of Mobil 5000 10w30 from an autozone deal so i decided this was going to be its place. After a run of 6k miles mostly highway easy running, the oil was very black. When i was changing it, i noticed that the cam was about 90 percent cleaned up. Im sure all good oils would have done this but the mobil 5000 really did a good job cleaning things up.
