I'm going to break in my new Toyota correctly, however, having been part of fleets for most of my career, the vast majority of vehicles are driven the same day 1 as they are the day they are turned in. Many of those vehicles stay on the road a very long time with no issues related to the break in process.
I had a 2014 F150 with a 5.0 that was brand new when I got it, and I was specifically told not to tow with it in the first 500 miles. I had a load that was too large for it hooked up within 200 miles of ownership. That truck was flawless for 150k, when it went away.
