Amsoil or RedLine 75w-140

I have used both brands before, but never their gear oils. Was trying to decide between the Severe Gear and the RL 75w-140 for use in 04.5 Dodge 2500 front and rear axles behind a Cummins. Is one better than the other in all reality? I am shooting for long drain/maximum component longevity.

I want to extend out the drains as long as possible. Dodge recommends 15K change intervals which is ridiculous. I have 37K on the truck and intend to run this fill until 100K.

I have the Amsoil in my rear diff and it seems to work fine. I just put Mola's gear lube in my Harley transmission and I am extremely happy with it. He makes a 75/140

It's cheaper then the Amsoil if you buy it at gallon quantities.

It worked better than I would have ever hoped in my Harley. I will probably use it in the differential when I replace the Amsoil.

If you are interested in extended drains then I recommend:

Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-140

Amsoil built on their already great 75W-140 to come out with this gear oil.

I was going to get Mola's oil but the specs just didn't compare to RL or Amsoil. I am relatively certain it will probably not make a bit of difference which one of these two oils I use. I am just so freakin picky I have to have the best of the best if you know what I mean. I guess I was wondering if there was anyone who had any firsthand knowledge on these two oils and if one seemed to perform better than the other. One thing for sure, 75w-140 RL is fairly hard to find in the regular version. The NS is everywhere.

Dodge recommends 15k and you're shooting for 100k, but you want maximum longevity? I hope that combination works well for you.

I have experience with Red Line gear lubes in working Dodge pickup axles, but not with Amsoil. You may wish to consider Schaeffer as well. Back before Molakule was making his own, he had very good things to say about Schaeffer's 75W90. One wonders whether all their gear oils might be equivalent in their 'toughness.'

BTW, what aspect of the S-F specs 'just didn't compare?'
