I can't say for sure, no personal experience with the factory bolts. I assume the factory bolts are fine. But the ARP's are perfect for the aluminum cover upgrade from steel. Nice and shiny,they stay that way, and 12 point heads.

I use the gear oil RTV. Never an issue.

I out a bead on, light finger tight the cover, and then completely tighten by ratchet/hand 45 min later. Then I wait another couple o hours before I fill with gear oil.

I've also just torqued the whole thing down and dumped oil right in, but I like to use a little patience since I'm not going to have to do it again any time soon.
 
As far as the best gasket/sealer to use - The Right Stuff is awesome. Look it up.
