Adjusting toe on multilink rear suspension

The string method may be a good check but I'll still say you can't beat the accuracy of a machine.

Make sure you find a shop that will do what you want. Personally, I don't like the factory specs on my 540 so I have my shop tweak it to my standards. You just need to find a shop that is willing to go the extra mile to make you happy regardless of spec.
 
Under load, alignment settings change.
There are alignment machines that test under load, but they are rare and expensive.
Common sense and common tools work very well.
