The clutch is shot on my sons 02 sc1 sohc. Looking on rock auto, there a no great selections , i'm thinking the four seasons dkv11s new. There are no oem compressors, only GM remans.

Any options I don't know about? I know @eljefino has worked on a number of these cars, as have i. @Chris142 , Any suggestions?

I miss my Saturns. Four Seasons is a crap shot and I recently stopped using thier remans due to too many issues - garbage. Their new stuff is only a tad better but given the availabilty for that car that is prob your best and only shot.

I wouldnt go with a reman and 4 seasons is very questionable. The new ones from China seemed to work fine for me. How about fleabay?

GPD, UAC and 4 Seasons all suck but checking with a/c specialty vendors it doesnt appear that there are any better options anymore. Ive had slightly better luck with UAC than the rest but none of them are my first choice when sourcing parts

Yep the car is 23 years out. Few options.

Only has 115k on it.

Thanks i guess its down to the 2 you and chris recommend.

I've got nothing. My Saturn ACs were actually quite reliable.
Its the clutch, its dead , i ran a 12 lead to it and it is a dead clutch, the compressor is probably ok. I see no way to replace just the clutch.

If i could, id buy the compressor , and just change the clutch leaving the original compressor without breaking the system open.

I'm not sure you can even get the clutch off. @Chris142 , @Timmastertech , can that be done?

If the compressor is good, I'd consider just replacing the clutch. Are you close to either of these Foss U-Pull It recycling yards in N.C. that have a donor Saturn SC available?

Clutch replacement is easy. Just a few screws and 2 snap rings. This is the kit that fits, but it is a reman., not new.

We used to do clutches on those pretty regular. There is enough slack in the lines that you can replace the clutch without opening the a/c system. You do need a puller for the pulley, dont remember if you need a puller and installer for the drive plate or not. Clutch is still available in 4 seasons though there arent many left, they show 4 left in stock in one of their distribution centers. Part number is 47989. Id chance an aftermarket clutch before an aftermarket compressor personally.

This is the second saturn, i've had with a bad a/c clutch, i replaced a compressor about 10 years ago on an 01 , i don't remember what compressor i bought.

I'll look for an a/c clutch tool. I only have gear pullers, lol.

Thanks!
Would this kit be what i need for removal and install ?

Pretty sure you won't need a puller to remove the clutch. Just proper size snap ring pliers that can reach into the cavity ~ 1.5 inches deep. Normal snap ring pliers may be too shallow to reach the interior snap ring on most GM compressors.

Might need some pullers to pull the clutch plate & hub off the compressor. A lot of Harrison compressors use a key way to locate the clutch plate & requires a special puller.
