+1 (even same age)

I just started this on my Durango. Changed the oil but left the filter on for every other change.

Filter: Amsoil SDF-15 (oversized)

No problems at all.

I have always used a new filter, and I'm 42.

The only situation where I'd leave the old filter on is if the engine was known to be really tough on oil, to the point that the oil really had to be changed at 2,000-3,000 miles. I've never had an engine that beats up oil like that.

car: no, cartridge filter changed several times per OCI
truck: could b/c of low yearly mileage but don't

No need to drag used filtration into a new OCI unless I'm broke or experimenting.

I'm not picking on you, but you gave me visions of a adaptation of the old Fram commercial.

"Change your filter without changing your oil and you can leave up to four and a half quarts of dirty oil in your engine".

It too would assume that the left on element (either oil or filter) is shot.
