I run 5w30 in the winter and 10w30 (or 10w40) in the summer with mine. I like Pennzoil HM. Seems the least leaky with that compared to Maxlife or STP High Mileage.

my aunts leaky 99 that runs great at almost 90,000 just got switched from M-1 10-30 extended to the 10-30 M-1 high mileage hoping to reduce leakage!! living in Pa

Just to clarify these are the years the 0331 head plagued the 4.0:

-2000-2001 for the Cherokee (1999 and earlier had distributor ignition)
-2000-2002 for the Wrangler (1999 and earlier had distributor ignition)
-1999-2002 for the Grand Cherokee (redesigned Grand came out in 1999 with the coil on plug ignition and 0331 head)

Depends for the WJ grand Cherokee. My 2002 built on 02/02/02 has the TUPY head.

I run whatever is on sale in xw30 or xw40. Which right now is a stock of 5w-40,0w-40,10w-30,10w-40. Synthetic in winter and anything in summer.

I have noticed that the 40s keep it nice and quiet. Quieter than my buddies who run vr1 10w-30 for the zinc.

Fram xg8a from eBay in the 6 pack for about 4$ a filter.
