I think I read here that 8k is common in cars, where cars call for a new filter every oil change.

But on bikes where my manufacturer calls for an every other filter change am I safe with all the shared transmission's extra metal in the sump, ooh...and clutch material?

Thanks

I use those filters for 5-10k mile oil change intervals without problems in cars/trucks. Are you talking about using that filter for 4000 miles on your bike, then draining out the oil and re-using the filter for another 4000 miles? If the time did not exceed one year or so, then you'll probably be fine. Those filters are not terribly expensive to prohibit changing every drain, are they? As far as plugging up the filter in 8k miles, it's doubtful unless there is some type of engine or transmission problem. I would still change the filter every oil drain due to my own preference.

I run the Pure One filters on my two bikes and my cars. Every fall/early Winter my bikes get an oil change and a new filter regarless of miles.

Amazon has them on sale for $4.50 each.

Why would you not change the filter when changing the oil? It seems to me that not changing the filter is "Pound-wise and penny-foolish." Just MHO.
