I built up my personal oil reserve in 2008 when I was driving a lot for work. Bought enough to last the full contract then the projected ended early. Still left with four cases of Mobil Clean 7500 synthetic blend (unopened).

Is it still usable as in will it still meet SAE spec, reasonable TBN, etc.?

Regards,
GEWB

Yes. I have some Maxlife from when the movie "Cars" came out that I still use.

Well, I'm currently using a stash from the mid 1960's-early 1990's in everything I don't have free oil changes on (New Jeep). Nothing has blown up or shown anything oil related having an issue. 2008? Ha! Think about it, you are running Obama administration oil and I have LBJ administration oil in some of my stuff! If it was stored right, shake it up and USE IT.

Jgee, have you had that oil all this time or did you buy it recently at a yard sale? I used all but the Kendall at one time or another.

I got it all from my uncle's cellar that he had saved in the dark around 50 degrees for all this time.

Do you have the metal funnel/can openers for these?

Yeah, it will be absolutely fine. Just shake it up really well to avoid add pack drop out.....if there is such a thing!

Sure do!

I acquired about 5 or 6 of them when my grandfather passed away a few years back. I am 34 years old, started driving in 1996. I had no idea what they were when I got them. (I figured it out around the same time I acquired my oil addiction)

I don't think it is any good. I will try to get to CO in the near future and I will take it off your hands and dispose of it properly for you. Don't worry. The disposal fee wont be too bad.

The '73 Datsun will use it all and you can still use the old oils for top-off in newer cars.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them, at least in an older application. But your point of them being in demand is spot on. They might be worth more to a collector than the nominal retail price of replacing them with something more modern.

I love using the QS in the Datsun. Im going to get a UOA done when there are more miles on the lube. (Just got this 240Z running last summer)

I could sell it all but what is the fun in that? I like using 40 year old in 40 year old cars.

Go dude!! I've got about 70 quarts of the stuff, collected around the same time frame. Just put some into a Ford Focus for a trip, car has no complaints at all.Was looking over the TDS just this morning, the stuff certainly was perfectly okay a few years back, no reason it shouldn't be the same now.
