M1 T&SUV vs GC. What are the visc. of these two at oil tempatures seen in a air cooled lawnmower engine?

GC is like a heavy 30wt at operating temp? Seems like I read that the M1 5w40 is a thin 40? Is that correct?

Yeah I've been thinking that would be the way to go. My dad ran 30HD Havoline in his Briggs 5hp down here for 10 years. That motor ran like a top and was going strong until some turd stole it out of his tool shed

I have 10-30 M1 in my 7hp intek. Was thinking I may go with something thicker for our brutal summer heat. Only thing is that my wally world is only selling M1 T&SUV in the 5 quart jugs.

Dmproske, Then you got to buy 5 more power toys so you can service them all at once on that 5 Qt jug

. Problem solved. I run everything that requires oil on 15W40 except my wifes 98 Buick and it gets 5W30 Syn. DaveJ

I thought M1 T&SUV was a middle 40wt??? Isn't it "heavier" than the 0w40 which everyone says is a thin 40wt?

I was running M1 10w30 SS in my Kawasaki powered Husqvarna riding mower. I switched to T&SUV and it runs smooth and quiet. I figure that the air cooled motor runs hotter than a typical car engine and probably at the temp it runs the T&SUV is a heavy 30wt anyway. JMO. I also theorize that small engines tend to have more blowby and they sit longer between use so the extra additives in this oil can't hurt. So far after 15 or more hours this summer the oil is almost clear as new.

Anyone have any luck asking a wally world manager why they don't stock a certain oil? My local wally world used to stock the T&SUV in quarts but haven't for a while. In fact, all their quart bottles of M1 appear to be unorganized.

Any other major stores stock T&SUV?

i emailed walmart on their website about carrying m1 t&suv; i got a call from the manager and a couple of weeks later it was at my local store. now they have it most of the time (but it seems to "disappear" pretty quick). dave

Another great reason to use a HDEO in your OPE (outdoor power equipment).
