Pennzoil claims their oil is good for 500,000 or 15 years whichever comes first. How can this possibly be? And it's less than $24 dollars. I'd think it would cut down on oil sales.

It's a pretty safe gamble for them to take given that almost no vehicles ever reach 500k miles. Rust, accidents, trading or selling, etc. are extremely likely to happen long before that milestone is reached.

This is the Mobil 1 Warranty: https://nudl.es/m1-oil-warranty
This is the Pennzoil Warranty: https://nudl.es/penz-oil-warranty
This is the Quaker State Warranty: https://nudl.es/qs-oil-warranty

The Pennzoil and Quaker State warranties are hands down better than what Mobil offers. The Pennzoil warranty is the easiest to navigate, with Quaker State being very similar. Mobil's warranty is the most ambiguous. They make it pretty clear that unless eight planets align in the solar system on February 30th, the year of the claim, you, as a customer, are SOL. I may be a Mobil 1 fanboy, but their warranty sucks.

And SOPUS only has a maximum claim of $5000 for an engine with less than 75K miles, & $2500 for one with over 75K-no one is getting an engine replaced for $2500 these days! If you jump through ALL the flaming hoops & get it approved. Marketing hogwash.

So I register before 125,000 miles, buy only there stuff, log everything, save all receipts, and hope something doesn't break thats not oil related, which is by far the most likely things to break.

Other than certain engines with flat tappet cam wear, what kind of failure could actually be attributed to oil? I haven't heard of an engine spinning a bearing in years.

So you actually thought you could install this oil and never have to change it again for 15 years or 500,000 miles? I got a 2018 Camry with 60,000 miles I'll sell you for $1200 with free delivery and 10 days no questions asked money back guaranty. Send me the money by Western Union and the car will be at your door in three days.

I'd bet some people will think they can buy this oil and never have to worry about buying oil again. Some people don't read the instructions like they should.
I think that's partially what happened with ExxonMobil and their annual protection synthetic oil. people saw the a 20 or 25,000 miles on the front of the jug did some basic mathematics and figured out that though it was expensive they wouldn't have to service it for a really long time. that would be great if your car had a really big oil sump, didn't have direct injection and it was right on the highway for long stents like doing prisoner transportation or shuttles to and from the airport in a big city. sales reps that have big territories could essentially do it but I think they'd still have to top off and keep the oil level within operating levels. as we see the new cars asking for thinner oils and making more power now should be the time more than ever where we're not trying to extend oil drain intervals without serious car modifications. I think 5,000 MI is starting to come back as the standard. looking back on Pennzoil and they're 500,000 mi warranty, anybody who made it to 500,000 miles would already probably be content and not caught up in trying to use an oil simply for warranty especially one that can't be had in store where you've got to go online or do something. I mean we look at that professor who had the old Volvo that went 2 million miles plus and I think he used Castrol. I think a better marketing ploy would be for shell to say anybody who's used are oils at least 75% of the time and that has reached the half a million mile on the odometer will get free oil on their next car for the first 250,000 MI.

I would take it with a grain of salt and do 250,000 or 7 years. After that one, go 3 yr 125,000 on the next
