22 and newer Nissan Frontiers

Who else has a 22 or newer Nissan Frontier and what oil are you running in the VQ38? I am nervous running the “recommended” 0w20.

That is one beautiful green.

I have a 2012 in Daytona Blue (100k miles), the 4X4 package and the 4.0L in it and I run 5W30 in it all year round. Engine and tranny is still strong as ever.

Actually I love GREEN. Porsche's Oak Green.

What 0w20 seems to have the most robust add pack?

Maybe a GREEN one. 😇
VW 508 00/Porsche C20 is dyed. Comes with a HTHS of 2.6-2.7 mPas.
M1 ESP X2 0W-20 for example. I'd still run M1 ESP 5W-30 instead even
though no dye.

In the last 4-5 years, GTL Base Oils have gained popularity and being used more by the oil producers/bottlers.

I used to use GTL roughly ten years ago. Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L.

If you read both GTL and robust add-pack on the jug label and oil specs PDF pages, that means you are no longer paying Walmart pricing for oils. It means you are looking at boutique oils like Red Line, Amsoil, HPL.......etc.

Which Redline or Amsoil uses GTL base oil?

I had a 22’ S model for a year. Ran 0W20 in it. No issues, obviously. I don’t think you’ll have any issues at all. If your under warranty run 0W20, then switch to a thicker grade if you want after warranty ends. The VQ engines are pretty stout regardless.
