For the $4,500 they want for it, it should....

Urea injection is an emission control device where urea is sprayed into the exhaust to reduce NOx. Some diesels have it, some don't.

I always ask if the engine uses Urea injection, because I'd rather have a small MPG penalty than have to fill up an extra reservoir of Urea.

I know what it is, but I don't know if the engine has it or not. When I found out it was $4,500 more that killed any thoughts of me even considering it. I see your point though, I never gave it any thought at all.

Is this the same 3.0 liter MB diesel used in the 2007 - 2009 Jeep GC?

The idea to trust the "average" driver (that skips oil changes) to maintain a DEF system makes me shudder. I can just see someone dumping a bottle of urea straight into the tank and then suing the manufacturer.... Clatter clatter ping!

Fortunately, the refill schedule is set to coincide with oil changes. Assuming that it will display a warning on the dash as well for it like it does for oil changes.

Couple of reports on that happening with the 6.7 PSD. Results = 10K repair bill. IMO Ford was foolish to put the DEF fill right next to the fuel fill.

I am a big diesel fan but they are not right for everyone, and when they fail it is usually big bucks. I think in the end small diesels will get another black eye in N.A.
