Hello Guys,

I had been lurking for a long time and decided to join.

I have 2012 VW Jetta with 78,000 KM which if i am not mistaken has the 09G AISIN 6-speed AT.
The body style and chassis/engine is the same as the MK4 Jetta except for the transmission.
(VW chooses to keep selling older models in Mexico, we also have the MKVI of course).

Here is my question,

If i change the oil and filter and the trans starts shifting funny because it doesn't like the oil that was used, is there any damage if i change it again after a few hundred kilometers?.

Also, what oils do you recommend?.

From what i read Valvoline Maxlife ATF is a favorite here but Mobil or Castrol ATF synthetics work as well?.

Oil choices are way more limited here in Mexico that is why i have a concern about not getting the right oil.

Thank you in advance for any support.

Just to clarify,

When i say change the oil again after a few hundred kilometers i mean of course change it out to another that should be the correct one, of course not putting in again the same oil.

I am just concerned that some usage with the wrong kind of oil might cause too much damage or wear.

Thanks again.

If it were a customer vehicle or a friends vehicle I'd use VW fluid. If it were my own I'd use Redline and if neither of those options were available I'd trust Maxlife.

BG Synthetic Universal ATF is what we used in customer cars with no issues.

Maxlife would be a solid choice, and you should use it with confidence.

However, if whatever you chose has an undesirable effect, you'll have do do a series of drain + fills to ensure it is removed completely, or at least diluted and negated.

Could you guys recommend anything other than Maxlife in case that i cannot find it?.

I am aware that is a solid choice as many state in these forums however as i mentioned in Mexico we are years behind in these kinds of things and not many good synthetic ATF oild are available.

I recall seeing Castrol/Mobil ATF oils in Autozone.

Sometimes regardless of brands as long as it meets something an SPEC like MERCON V for example then any brand is ok.

I appreciate all the help from you guys.

@Olas @rooflessVW

Thank you so much guys for taking the time to reply and for your information.

I will try to get the Mobil 1 ATF in case that i cannot find Maxlife (The VW fluid is my last resort as in Mexico it is priced as if it was made from gold).

I honestly will not be doing this as an DYI but the tutorial is helpful in order to ask the mechanic to consider many of the things mentioned there and also i wanted to know how many quarts are required.

I read this forum everyday it has become an addiction of mine actually, i am very happy i joined.

Thanks again.
