Hello all... While I was digging the net looking for info on my Milan, I came through here and saw that there was only one factory filter cut open, so I figured I'd see what mine looked like, and I've never seen one made like this before, so I hope you guys can help...

FWIW, the can has "Made in UK" stamped on it. The ADBV was tiny, and seals to the black plastic ring. There was no oil trapped in the filter (I pulled it last night). The media seemed to have no endcaps, per se, but upon closer inspection, had these tiny filter material rings poorly glued to both ends, although everything was held together by the leaf spring. The ends of the media pleats were glued together like an air filter. The center tube was huge, and not attached to the media directly, instead relying on those rings. Bypass valve was hard black plastic. Total media area was Only about 205 square inches. Anyway, for those who know better than I... Who makes this? Thoughts? Personally, I'm glad I got it out of the car. Doesn't look horrible, but doesn't look like a quality filter, either.

Is this the filter that was on when it left the factory? If it was it might be made by Champion Labs if bought after it might be made by Purolator.

Yes it is the filter from the factory, but it doesn't look like any Champ Labs filter I've ever seen...

And yes, the pleats were kinda bunched into "packs" in the can...

The media design looks similar to the Denso Toyota filters (pleats glued at each end). Notice the "FoMoCo" on the can ... Ford Motor Company. No idea who actually makes it.

Yes, the consensus has been that Champ makes the factory-installed filters for Ford.

As ZeeOSix stated, this looks a lot more like a Denso filter than any Champ made piece I've seen.

205sq./in. is not too shabby and some people don't like the Denso design style (which this filter demonstrates), but Denso's are great IMO and this filter looks pretty good to me. Who knows? Now the Denso I use has metal base plates (150-1010) The Denso's that are OEM for some Toyota's have the glued bases as in your case. Denso has a couple of design styles.

UK huh? Different. Don't want to repeat what it looks like, so yeah, what they said.

How many miles on that Milan? 4 or 6 banger?

What did you use as a replacement filter?

Thanks for the pics. Yeah different, filter and thread. Now I have to find the submit button.

I just can't think of any filters that are made in the UK, that's why it's got me confuzzled... A UK filter on an American car that's made in Mexico... THERE'S a global economy in action!

It's the 4 banger, about 7400 mi. I replaced the factory fill with M1 5W-20 and a M1 102 filter.

Never seen that design before. Looks like a Denso/Toyota filter mated with a Fram (center rube and bypass/leaf spring design). Strange indeed.

Yup... Kinda like a mutt filter... I'm surprised that nobody has nailed this one down yet, but maybe it will remain a mystery... lol

Never seen that... The Factory filter from my focus was clearly a champion labs (Mobil 1/K&N Style) made in USA. That's an interesting looking filter for sure. Interesting design.

Extra odd considering that your engine and mine spec the same filter, yet came with two completely different ones from the assembly line...
