Skyactiv 2.5L NA (non-CD), 850 miles on factory-installed PE01-14-302B Roki filter.

Seems like about the normal amount of metal for a first filter change. I dragged a magnet across the spread-open pleats and picked up a little ferrous fuzz. Most of the visible debris stayed on the filter, so is apparently aluminum.

My motivation for the early oil change wasn't concern about metal debris large enough to be caught by the filter but rather the tiny bits that pass through it and circulate through the engine until the factory fill is drained. Stirring the drained oil in bright light showed the expected subtle swirl of glitter--not enough to be alarmed about.

I installed an OEM (Denso) 1WPE-14-302 filter. Hoping it'll have much less debris in it at the next oil change.

Nice! Thanks for the C&P.

I did my wifes 2024 CX-5 first oil change around 1500 miles. I expected more glitter and stuff then I got. Very little there. She has 22K on it now. Loves the car.

the 2025 CX-5 might be the only car on sale in the USA with: no factory auto-stop, conventional transmission, and no cylinder activation.

can't think of any others off the top of my head. and 2025 is this generation's last model year.

and the reputation is that its direct injection stays relatively deposit-free (supposedly Skyactiv-G has a relatively unique fuel spray pattern).
