175k mile jeep Loud Lifter sound on startup, Best Additive?

I sold a Mach 1 Mustang in the 80s which had a 351 Cleveland with completely worn out lifters. (Yes,i sold as is)
This engine was a major Rattle Trap when it was cold, one can of STP oil treatment and as it warmed up the sound would pretty much go away.

Had a 73' Merc Montego with a 351 Windsor. The ONLY problem I ever has was that stupid plastic cam gear that shredded. Couldn't kill that engine. Used it in 3 engine swaps, with the tranny attached. Couldn't kill nether of them !!!!! . I beat them to death. I was in my teens. I know they say the Cleveland was better, but guess what the Windsor replaced 3X.... 351 Cleveland's with dead oil pumps. Just a 351 rant.....Oh, it was good to be young ! Hangin motors with tranny's from a tree branch. Not a single ache or pain :(

Well Valvoline Restore and Protect (R&P) is the only OTS available oil that's proven to actually clean, which is why I recommended it. I'm not going to recommend something like HPL for a 15 year old vehicle with 175K miles on it in a state of unknown health, but VRP isn't any more expensive than anything else off the shelf, so it would make sense to give that a shot.
It's $30/5qt vs $15-$18/5qt. Definitely a lot more than other options.

I used Liqui Moly MoS2 part # 2009 in my 2015 Honda CRV that at about 60,000 miles started a cold start tick for a few seconds every morning. The MoS2 eliminated that issue. My noise was coming from a failing VVT actuator. Your issue is a little different. I would do a fresh oil change, replace some oil with a bottle of Rislone Engine treatment and the MoS2 Liqui Moly, forever. Will it work? I doubt it, you probably need parts, but it is worth a try.

You can use Rislone Engine treatment at every oil change on any engine forever. It is a good slow cleaner, amongst other things. In some cases, it helps. The purists will complain, as it is considered an "additive" and does alter the chemistry of your engine oil, in some cases for the better, I am sure. LOL! Anyhow, you can run it all the time, and it does not need to be flushed out. Just read and follow the directions on the bottle. Rislone part # 4102, if you are wondering which one, as they make a few products.
I added Rislone, we will see how it does. It's a weird issue being it doesn't tick, but it's just very loud on startup and only after replacing the timing chain, who knows if it's even a lifter issue. No one can tell me what it is.

I would use one documented to be safe for use with catalyic converters, e.g. Amsoil. I have not researched other brands that would probably work.
If the oil consumption is high enough, no oil with ZDDP would be "safe" for the converter. It's all a matter of how much oil reaches the catalyst.

You can help by using a lower-SAPS oil, but either way no oil would be entirely safe in that regard.

Anything that doesn’t contain phosphorus as part of the composition.

Or if you’re not burning large amounts of oil it doesn’t matter.
