After purchasing my 2004 Mitsubishi Verada (Diamante) off the second owner last year, I decided to do the valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals. The car has 207000km (128000mi) and has the 6g74 engine

He was an older man who had owned it for 15yrs, and did oil changes religiously every 5000km. Overkill? Perhaps…but I was happy with what I found 🤷🏻‍♂️

Current fill is M1 5w-50.

Very nice!

I saw KM and immediately assumed Canada. I was wondering how an engine from Canada is so clean, with no corrosion on the aluminum intake runners……Australia. That‘s why.

Nice looking engine!

He didn't use synthetic I presume, or there wouldn't be that much varnish.
I don’t think it’s that bad for a 19yr old car. Certainly no heavy red/brown rubbish. These are known to run hot in the top end which doesn’t help

It looks okay, but agree that it would be worth knowing what oil was swapped out in these very short intervals. Also, not really understanding what drives your current oil weight choice.
I like the wide viscosity range. 10w-50 is in the owners manual, as is 5w-30. I don’t see the issue with 5w-50.
