0w20 vs 0w30 ?

0w-20 will be just fine.

Considering I'm running it in my 2002 Silverado 5.3. Back when in 2002 0w-20 wasn't even on the market. My UOA's are just fine and I even tow a 4klbs trailer. Also here in eastern NC it gets up into the upper 90's in the summer and the humidity is 90%.

To each their own but to me thicker isn't always better. There are more and more vehicles out there running 0w-20 and getting into the 100k plus mileage with no issues.
Wow running 0w 20 in a 2002.
I had piston slap in my 2002 sierra. Got me a new engine at 16k.
She went till 268k when my daughter parked it and got a car.
Anyways don't think I would have ran 0w 20 in it

It's more about who make the engines. Generally, Toyota, Mazda, Honda non turbo engines have low wear regardless 0w-20, or older 5w-30 oil. What interesting is newer VAG that use 0w-20 show lower wear than engines with 504/507 0w/5w-30.
The older 0w-40 is not that popular anymore because not compatible with ACEA C2 C3, C5 standard for catalytic converter and DPF on regular cars. For sport cars like GTR, Civic type R or Supra BMW, I still believe it needs 0w-30 or 0w-40. May be 10w-60 when race on track.
