My 2007 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder engine has 150,000 miles on it. Toyota recommends 5w-20 and this is always what I have used. I started using the high mileage 5w-20 at about 120,000 miles. They also recommend 5,000 interval, which I have always followed. I noticed about a year ago that it blows blue smoke when I start it in the morning, but doesn't do it after that. I have also started tracking my oil consumption and I am using about 1 qt every 1,500 miles. I know it's not horrible, but I would like to improve if possible.
Based on some searching it seems it's likely my valve seals, which I am not going to replace. Would there be a better, maybe heavier, oil that would minimize the leaking at the valve seals?
Other info: I live in Utah. I'm a pretty aggressive driver and I drive at the higher end of the speed limit most the time. I would say 80% or so of my driving is highway.
Thanks,
Justin
