The oil under the engine was freshly residual - don't think it's an issue.

Could not see the oil filter, let alone what type - darnnn....

I still think it's too much for the economy now.....

It does have new Michelin tires, that should be a good thing.......

IF I HAD to buy a car right now AND it had to be able to tow (occassionally), I would buy an older truck UV, or minivan. I would NOT pay $15K for something that may be too expensive to fill up while also being difficult to sell. If she buys it, she's locked in to it. Heck, my grand caravan did occassional 2500-3000lb tows beautifully, had plenty of space, and stayed between 19-24 mpg with the 3.3L V6. I traded for an accord and have since regretted it.

I hear ya, bro.

She is selling her newer Lexus & getting this.

I said to be prepared to pay quite a bit more for gas...

Towing 1000-2000lbs several times already since paying 2 grand for a 95 Nissan V-6 pickup. Fuel economy @25mpg highway. Timing belt, water pump, cam, crank seals cost 500, so really I paid 2500 for it. The tow rating on the truck is 2500-3000lbs. These older inexpensive trucks are great for hauling and helping people move.

The transmission fluid smells "a little burnt" though..... It had 52k on it and being a lease, of course original.

That would be the deal breaker for me. 4L60's do burn fluid and once they do be careful. If there is one weak point on a GM trans it is allowing the fluid to burn. If she does get it I would do a trans service the next day. If it's coming from a dealer make them throw a DEXVI flush in for free as the deal closer. JMHO

For a short wheel base GM T360 w/ 4.2L I6, you will average mid-hi teens. Low 20's are achievable on steady hywy travel. They are a large, fairly capable and inexpensive truck. MPGs are inline with any vehicle in this class.

Two co-workers have bought these SUV's. One a Envoy and one a Trailblazer. The Chevy lost its Transmission at 24K and the other co-worker has had multiple expensive electrical problems. 0 for 2 with my aquaintances.
