Changing ATF in Toyota with No Dipstick ?

I use a large plastic measuring cup to get an accurate measure of what was drained. Drain it cold. works perfectly, don't need to check level.

SP-III replacement for out of warranty Kia

I used Maxlife in my Kia and Hyundai that called for SPiii. Worked well and both went to 200k without a problem, sold them both with great shifting transmissions. I did have a problem in the Kia Sedona with the SPIII "breaking down", turning dark, and causing shifting problems during long...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2005 Honda Pilot, two drain and refills, 3qt each of VML (love that stuff). Plan to do another at the next oil change, along with a ATF filter replacement. Just found out that the Pilot has a serviceable filter behind the air filter box and battery, parts ordered for this.

Hyundai ATs: long term success w/non SPIII?

I have two Hyundais that have Maxlife ATF in them. I am getting great results. The 02 Santa Fe has 135k miles, 45k miles with maxlife. The 07 Entourage had 130k miles, 70k with maxlife. The biggest improvement that I noticed is in the Entourage. The SPIII would wear out quickly. When driving...

2008 Hyundai Santa Fe brake job joy. Not!

I have had several Hyundai and Kia products with rear disc brakes. All of them were a real pain to get off. Even the fronts were terrible, with the rotors rusting to the hubs. All had to be hammered off with a rubber mallet. I also have a Toyota and Honda. These were very easy, came right off...

Zerex Asian or G-05 for Honda?

I'm currently using PGL in my Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sedona, and Zerex Asian in my Honda Pilot and Toyota Prius. The Zerex Asian is the only after-market I've seen that meets the Toyota and Honda requirement of HOAT with phosphates but no silicates, which they seem anal about. Hyundai and Kia...

    Maxlife for 05 Honda Pilot?

Excellent, I didn't know that Honda switched to a full syn. I haven't owned a Honda in a few years, so I thought they still used Z1. I think I'll try out the DW1 then, I have a good local dealer to get it from. Thanks!! On another note, is there any good aftermarket replacement for the...

    Maxlife for 05 Honda Pilot?

I just bought a 05 Honda Pilot. I am going to do some PMs on it, including changing the ATF. I've used Maxlife in my Hyundais with great success. It says it is also recommended for replacement of Honda Z1. What do you guys say?

MaxLife ATF okay on tranny with only 24,000 miles?

I use maxlife in 2 of my cars, 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe and 2006 Kia Sedona. Works great in both applications. I wouldn't hesitate to use it in a low mileage Ford. Anyone that lives in the midwest near a Meijer store, they carry Maxlife ATF for $3.67 per quart, or $13.99 in gallon jugs. This is...

What coolant for '03 Hyundai Elantra

I just bought Zerex Asian Formula at Napa for $9/gallon. Says right on the bottle that it meets the Hyundai/Kia spec, and it is a HOAT coolant. Only place I have found it is at Napa, so try that.

Supertech Dexron VI in a Toyota Prius?

It is a 2006, it has 85k miles on it. I bought it from the original owner, and it is in perfect condition. He had all the required maintenance done. However, he never had the tranny serviced, and it had 68k on it when I bought it (Toyota doesn't require a ATF change until 100k miles). I changed...

Supertech Dexron VI in a Toyota Prius?

licensed by Toyota? No. Not really a price thing, I want something different that might hold up better than the WS.

Supertech Dexron VI in a Toyota Prius?

The Supertech Dexron VI bottle says it is recommended for Toyota WS applications. Anyone use it in a Prius CVT? I am out of the warranty period for the car, any reason not to try it? I don't really like how bad WS typically looks on the UOA's, I think Dexron VI might hold up better.

    Automatic Transmission Fluid Change Question

I would suggest dropping the pan and changing the filter every 30k miles. Probably just as important as the filter is cleaning the clutch material from the bottom of the pan and the magnets.

i need a good convential gear oil for low $$

I've never seen the Shell Spirax in any of the stores around here, although that is the brand that my Hyundai recommends. Menards sells the Shell Heavy Duty 80W90. Does anyone know if this would be a good choice as a replacement for Spirax?

    Zerex Asian Antifreeze?

The Menards here in Toledo, OH carries Peak Global lifetime. They sell the 50/50 stuff for about $8.
