    Quaker State Syn blend?

I picked up someome sorta by mistake. 5 qt jug was gold like the UD I have been using, that WM didn't have. It said it was Dexos rated, and had a 7$ rebate sticker on it that doesn't look like it is for it. QS claims it has 50% syn base, d it was Dexos rated, and had a 7$ rebate sticker on it...

Can only go by if they meet SN, GL5, or Dexos1. Should be good if they do.

1100 mi drive sans filler cap...

With positive pressure from any blowby, you may have gotten some oil to condense outside the motor. Cars used to have just a road tube to vent the blowby under the motor. If blowby was bad, you could see smoke coming from the pipe. Now it gets sucked into the motor to be burned.

How Often Do You Change Plugs?

I've noticed more problems with wires. The roughness was minor and hard to figure out. I had replaced the wires, but it didn't last long till problems again.

How Often Do You Change Plugs?

I can see maybe changing plugs if the electrodes were really erroded. Had a car with dual points, and when it would start running rough I would reset them. It was a pain to change them, and new ones didn't last long before they started to pit. I could get the motor smooth just opening the gap a...

How Often Do You Change Plugs?

I stopped changing them long ago, and only do when they stop working. Had a situation when with 10K mi on plugs I changed them. I cleaned and gapped them and tested them on a tester that had a meter that read Good, Fair, and Poor. They were in the poor zone. With about 1K mi on the new plugs I...

    3 ton floor jack

Check Pep Boys since they have a sale on tools. Got 2-11 piece combo open end/box wrench sets one metric and one standard for 5$ ea. One time I got 2 sets with a real nice 3/8" ratchet & maybe 20 sockets, half metric and half standard by Good Year Racing for 4$ ea. Another time I picked up a...

    Spark Plug Heat Range

I'd go by how the plugs function and look with use. I had a car that fouled a couple OE plugs after 3K mi, and every 600 mi after that. The car had 1-4bbl, and the Co called for the same plugs that were in the 2-4bl police motor. With a lot of city driving they would foul. Dealer tuned the car...

    Changing Brake fluid, ABS

Found a way to cycle the ABS without the dealer only Select Monitor scan tool or driving and braking on gravel. Grounding 2 connectors on the computer connector is said to cycle the ABS. The pressure bleeder should keep air from getting in.

    Changing Brake fluid, ABS

I have an 07' Subaru Impreza, and the scan tool for it (Select Monitor) is Mighty expensive IF you could buy it. Only dealers are said to be allowed, and the cheapest I saw was 1600$. A pressure bleeder sounds like it would flush the ABS unit, and a lot cheaper. Saw a vid on You Tube on how to...

Oil Pump pick up length on 1500 MG Midget

I had an English Ford/Mercury Capri with their Kent motor. Didn't notice how much oil I was burning because I was just using it in the city. Had to drive the interstate for a job 11 mi aay, and the oil light would come on when I got home, which only took a qt. Figured I was going to loose the...

    Small, AWD, simple vehicles

Only issues I know that Subaru had was in the late 90's to early 2K's was with head gaskets, but think they resolved that and extended the warr on them. To me, the more things you have like power windows and locks, the harder they are to fix. I'm not a fan of ABS, but if it stops working, it...

    Small, AWD, simple vehicles

I have an 07' Impreza wagon, without a speck of rust and live in the mid Atlantic, where they salt the streets even with the threat of snow. Its AWD and the car weighs about 3050 lbs. The NA version has 175HP, and the turbo weighs 3100 lbs has 225HP. 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS, cruise and AC...
