    FRAM COR10060TLE (Cut Open)

Ran for 5K miles on the wife's Jeep Renegade with Idemitsu 0W-20 and replaced with the same oil and a regular FRAM PH10060 oil filter. Bought it as a bulk 12 pack Ebay special. Seems pretty decent for a Ecore style filter with nice pleat spacing and the fiber end caps were firmly in place.

13 year old oil filter safe to use?

Bought off Ebay a factory sealed AC Delco PF2057 12 pack of oil filters. Realized after the fact the seller was selling off a bunch of NOS GM parts from a closed dealership. Like I mentioned, the case was still taped sealed from the factory. Inspection of all the filters showed no visible rust...

A few weeks back, I was stumbling around Ebay looking at filters for my Frontier and came across this IAP IC-106CS filter that was advertised for $1.88 shipped and peaked my interest because shipping would have to be more than the cost of the filter and wanted to see what one could get...

Received a reply on "G-OIL" on it's shelf life

Received the below reply concerning the shelf life of G-Oil. They give it a two year sealed shelf life. The only problem is their stated warranty on the oil is only good if put into service with 6 months after purchase.

Hand tight filter crowd might want to check their filters for winter.

Hand tight filter crowd might want to check their filters for winter. Like alot of people, I hand tighten all my filters. Well on my wifes KIA Sportage, the Nippon oil filter I had installed started to leak. When I did the filter change 3 months ago, the weather was in the 80's. Just recently...

    Cut open SuperTech ST-2 E-Core

This last summer in the middle of the great "E-Core" debates that raged I decide to try one on my new Ford F250 5.4L. In June at 1K on the odometer, I swapped out the factory filter (which was a nice Champ labs engine OEM) for a SuperTech ST-2 E-Core and used SuperTech 5-30 SM oil. During the 4K...

    Just changed to Trop-Artic 10W-40

Just changed to Trop-Artic 10W-40 in my Suzuki Volusia 800. This oil is about the smoothest shifting oil I have used short of Amsoil. Previously had Supertech 15W-40 for about 2k and it was clunky shift and many false neutrals with that oil. The Trop-Artic is listed as both SM and SJ spec on the...

    Is 15W-40 okay in a ECOTEC 4cyl?

Just bought the wife a used Saturn ION with 24K miles on a ECOTEC 4cyl engine. When the warranty is up at 36K, I am looking to run 15W-40 weight oil. The manual states 5W-30 and 10W-30 if the former can not be found. Will using a HDEO 15W-40 oil cause any long term problems? Trying to migrate...

Will 5W-20 in a KIA sportage kill it?

Will 5W-20 in a KIA sportage kill it? The manual shows 5W-30 to 10W-30 as the oil to use. The reason I ask is that I have a 2.3L Ford Ranger that I use 5W-20. I buy bought a case of Coastal (Autozone) brand oil and hate to keep another weight of oil around. Thanks for any information. Hootbro
