PC Duron 5w40 2004 F250 PSD 6250 miles on oil

Been using Amsoil DEO 5w40 for a year or so but the prices have risen up sharply here in Canada and I was able to find and purchase the PC Duron for a decent price so why not. :) My driving habits are still the same since the truck was new, a lot of stop and go driving, with a fair amount of...

Amsoil DEO 5w40 04 F250 PSD 6250 miles on oil

I think someone mentioned in my previous analysis post that this lab does not read some oils correctly, hence the higher numbers.

Amsoil DEO 5w40 04 F250 PSD 6250 miles on oil

Well if Dnewton bothered to remember what I said in my previous analysis thread instead of getting on his high horse again, he would remember that I chose to use the ACD for one quick interval to see how it would shear. He would also remember that I said I would go back to the DEO 5w40 and stick...

Amsoil DEO 5w40 04 F250 PSD 6250 miles on oil

My driving habits haven't changed since my previous analysis. Still doing the hwy run but the fuel contamination went up. I didn't change the filter after my last interval with ACD since it wasn't that long, not sure if that affected results much. Lead is up though. Iron per mile is same as my...

Amsoil ACD 30/10w30 04 PSD 2500 miles on oil

Dnewton, if you bothered to look closely at the analysis data, you'd notice that there is an almost 90,000 km gap between my last XD-3 analysis and the first Amsoil analysis. I have been using XD-3 0w30 up until I decided to switch to Amsoil when the cost of XD-3 went up here significantly. This...

Amsoil ACD 30/10w30 04 PSD 2500 miles on oil

Actually Fe has been on a downward trend since the beginning, I didn't do an analysis for almost 60,000 miles before the Amsoil. I suspect I would have gotten similar Fe with the XD-30. Since I live in Toronto, Canada, I'll stick to the 5w40 all year round, the engine is happier at start up...

Amsoil ACD 30/10w30 04 PSD 2500 miles on oil

I decided to give ACD a try to see if the viscosity improver free formula would shear less in this engine. I didn't have the guts to run it the full 5000 mile interval and chickened out at 2500 miles. Same driving conditions as the previous oils. Pleasantly surprised that the oil only sheared by...

Amsoil DEO 5w40 04 F250 PSD 5000 miles on oil

Haven't done one in a while but due to the increasing costs of the XD-3 here in Canada, and the truck being out of warranty :) I decided to give Amsoil a try. It did very well I think, it definitely did not shear as much as the other oils I tried. Usage type is still similar, plenty of heavy...

New Ford PSD owner...oil questions [warrranty?]

Fwiw the 6.0 likes a 30 weight. I've been using the XD-3 0w30 without any problems, the engine runs very well. Unfortunately the fuel dilution shears the oil and forces me to change at about 5,000 miles..

    Honda S2000 any good?

There is a reason why the S2000 was voted "the most satisfying car" by British people. I realize that down in the "Unateh Stahtes" cubic inches and torque are hard to get away from but yes, the S is not for everyone's tastes. Btw, I have the 04, 2.2L with 8300 rpm redline and more torque...

    Another dagger in GM

I pity people like Rickey and Cletus that put up with such shoddy design and workmanship of cars like the Cavalier.. But then again we all need to realize that not everyone has the needs for their cars to be of higher standard. They accept crappy cars because the cars are cheap and American...

    Another dagger in GM

Please, I just about snorted my Coke through the nose when I read this.. You think that Cadillac and the GTO are at the top of their categories? No way, BMW, MB, Infinity, Acura and Lexus are much better than a Caddy and isn't the GTO discontinued? GM does make some decent cars but they...

I use the Fuel Power and Racor conditioner/cetane improver. I probably would benefit from any synthetic 5w40 in terms of shearing but I can't find any synthetics here for less than $7-8/L, almost double the cost of the XD-3 0w30/0w40. At 14-15L per oil change, that adds up pretty quick.
