Hey Casper , I would think you would have to , on mine I have a pickup tube on the end of my factory filter , that sucks the oil up thru that , then thru the filter ... It would not hurt to have 2 filters anyways ... internal and external ... just my opinion ....... Larry

Hello Again , First thing I would do if you plane to keep this vehicle is to go and get a shop manual for that vehicle form your local auto parts store , Haynes makes one I believe about $12 ... worth the investment , will give you detailed instructions on maintaining vehicle plus all the specs...

Hello , I,d say you have to get that answer from the manufacturer of the axle ... Get hold of an owners manual , back then I don't believe they used synthetic yet , I think a standard 90 weight was used back then .... Important to follow manufacturers reccommendation ... good luck...... Larry

Hello , Can anybody speculate why Ford would use 75W140 Synthetic on their 355 gears and use 80W90 non synthetic on their 373 gears , logically you would think the 373,s are turning faster whereas the synthetic 75W140 would be better suited then the 80W90 non Synthetic ....I can't figure it out...

Hello , Do you think a concern for transmission pump failure due to excessive puhing of the fluid is warranted ? I have a 4R70W transmissio with a transmission temperture gauge sending unit withion a junction block inline , don't know if that with the filter would stress the pump ??? Larry B.
