Looking for an oversized filter to fit the Suzuki SX4 2.0L DOHC motor. It's the same filter used on the Suzuki Aerio's as well as numerous other import cars, Nissans and such.

It's fram part number is PH4967, Purolator L14476, WIX 51056.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How big do you want to go? Got room for length and girth??? This is the most popular thread/gasket combo on the planet.

There are many more.

Well that's great news. This will be the first oil change, so I'll go stock size for the time being (fist OCI will likely be less than 2k). I'll have an idea after that just how big I can go. The engine has a rather large sump (~5 qt) for it's small size, so I'm not reaching for the sky, just something with slightly more volume for extended OCI if nothing else.

I appreciate the response, I'll cross reference those numbers on the Purolator website and see what they look like in the store.

Okay, I looked at the stock fitment, and there isn't much room for increased girth, perhaps another 1/4" diameter. Length on the other hand isn't a problem, I could easily go another few inches in length.

Does this bring about any specific filter suggesions?

The FL400S MC, 51516 Wix, PL20195/L20195 Purolator, EAO34 Amsoil

That would be where I'd start.

I did a little research, and Onan generators take a filter exactly like WIX 51056, except it is a 4.75" long. It has the same gasket seal, thread size and pitch, and internal parts. The only filter brands that make one though are Baldwin, Fleetgard, and WIX. All the other filters you guys listed will probably work, but in order to get an exact replica, you need to go with a Baldwin B7238, a Fleetgard LF16165, or a WIX 57398.

I just need some confirmation/affirmation, before trying out an oversized oil filter on the SX4. I've also volunteered to be the "oversized" guinea pig on the sx4club site. I am hoping someone else tries it before me though...

Will the Amsoil EaO34 (Wix #51516 / K&N HP-2009) work? Note the diameter difference between these filter sizes vs. stock...

The rest of the oil filter specs look correct, and there is plenty of room for a larger filter.

Most Toyotas use the ph4967. On my mom's Camry I sometimes run the ph3600 equivalent. It works fine and compared to the 4967, it is huge.

Thanks asiancivicmaniac.

It's the diameter that's causing me anxiety. I'll give it a go, and try to not let the 0.236 difference, freak me out!

Put it on and test it. You'll most likely be a max pressure at idle with fresh oil. Allow it to fully envelop the engine and rev it a bit. That should be the maximum pressure that the filter will ever see ..even when much colder. Beyond that, you're looking for seepage. That you can wait until the next OCI.

If anyone out there has the SX4 and wants to give this a try before my next OC... Please do!

This will be my first ever over-sized oil filter. On my very first ever, "brand new" car! What am I thinking?!
