2 or three phony fuel crisis's ago I went to a seminar on building your own still and making your own alcohol. At the time (in the 70's) they were saying the dept of agriculture had spent million trying to figure out the most viable plant source. Jerusalem rootabeger was supposed to give the most sugar for the least amount of water, required sunlight and soil depletion.

The dynamotive one sounds interesting. Maybe the product can be fed into an intermediate stage at a regular oil refinery.
