Read a post some time ago about using glycerine as a tire dressing/preservative. The original poster stated that he was told to use it by a "tireman". Another poster was baffled by this and said that using it would not do a darn thing and may even be harmful to the tire. Does anyone know or have experience with glycerine as a tire dressing?

Glycerine is def old skool. Back in tha DAY, before there were good quality rubber protectants and dressings, applying glycerine to rubber seals was the best way to preserve them from ozone attacks.

You can still use it on seals if you want. It'll work great (eventhough rubber seals aren't made of rubber anymore). I'm not sure how well glycerine will hold up on tires. My guess is the PITA factor will outweigh any protective advantages. If you want to maintain the tires, I'd suggest using a water-based dressing like 303 Aerospace, Vinylex, or any product that is not filled with oils and solvents.
