The TG is cardboard. I'd rather run a CQ Red to 10k.

The TG is spec'd for 10K. The red is not. It's not cardboard. You're an insane person. Good luck in life.

It's a Civic engine, just make sure it has oil in it and it will be fine.

No, I have a 2003 Civic EX (same exact engine) and I just use cheap Sam's Club oil with a Napa silver filter. Change it every 4000-5000 miles.

My girlfriend used to have a 2001 Civic LX with extremely low miles that was totaled by someone rear-ending her late last year. The best oil we used in it was Royal Purple HPS 5W-20. Even she noticed a difference in how it sounded/ran/felt, and she's never noticed a difference in any other car/oil change I've ever done for her in the past 7 years. Expensive stuff, but worth it. Sadly it was only in the car for about 1,000 miles before it was totaled.

I had good luck with Mobil1 5w20 High Mileage in that same engine on a 2005 Civic with 159,000 miles. The upper end would start to get noisy after about 4000 miles using the basic Mobil1 5w20, but not so with the high mileage variant.
