Topping off Honda Blue coolant with Peak

The overflow tank in my Pilot came filled right at the min mark from the factory. The level hasn't changed in the past 3 yrs but my OCD doesn't like fluids on the low side. I have some Peak LL in the garage that's "all makes/models." Can I just use that to top off the Honda Blue currently in the reservoir? I'm not a fan of mixing coolants but the amount won't be much and I don't want to buy a whole gallon of $25 Honda coolant if I can avoid it.

I do have the same question. I have a 2015 Accord. New and the coolant level was slightly below the minimum amount. It bugs me but I'm not sure enough to buy a whole gallon of Honda Type 2 coolant. That and the dealer is 45 minutes away.

My brother has topped off his 06 accord with whatever brand they sell at AAP, he replaced the started and lost fluid because they had to remove a hose to access it easier I think. I went around to 3 different auto parts stores and none of them had blue antifreeze so I picked up generic stuff.
No problems at all, it's been a couple of years.

I can't believe the prices some dealers charge, you should look around. Honda Type 2 is $18 a gallon at both the dealers nearest to my house.

Peak LL blue bottle is a Dexclone.

Use Peak Global, Zerex Asian, or OE equivalent from OEM, BeckArnley, Pentofrost....

Zerex Asian is now available in "BLUE" for those that color coordinate.

Or, just visit your Honda, Subaru, or Nissan dealer for a gallon of their blue antifreeze.

Coolant is a small expense in the overall cost of ownership. Cooling system problems can quickly kill an engine. I'd stick to the right brand and eat the extra expense and if caught out somewhere I'd use distilled water. I'm not smart enough to predict what problems I might experience a long way down the road with these modern engines. I use good old green in my old Honda and Toyota long life pink in my 4Runner.

Your OCD finally kicked in after 3 years of the coolant being at the exact same level? Suddenly you feel you need to top it off?

Zerex Asian is compatible, cheap, and readily available.

If you want to stay 100%, you can special order the Pentofrost that is died blue (a2, a3, something like that - A1 is the Toyota red I know) from O'Reillys or Napa. It is still about $25/gallon for concentrate - don't know if the Honda gallons are conc. or pre-mix.

I'm not sure you can be truly OCD and then think of putting a coolant your not sure off into your vehicle and the ask fellow BITOGer's if it the right thing to do. Are you OCD or not?

Stay original, you'll always regret anything coolant related if you didn't, and why do you have that stuff in your garage anyway?

What I was thinking. Also, if he really has OCD, he would use Honda fluid.

If I had two Honda vehicles I would pick up some Honda coolant, top the one off and leave the rest in case/when I needed it for the other. $25 for oem coolant isn't a big deal.

Ended up doing just this. Only took about 5 oz to get up near the max line. Doubt that'll disturb the 50/50 mixture in the system.

Most coolant systems are just shy of 10 qts. So that's 320ozs, let's say. It will shift your mixture 1.5% (5 ounces). You are now 48.5/51.5 per centum coolant/water. You have been bumped left on the eutectic graph for molar freeze point depression. You went from roughly -30F theoretical protection to -28F.

(That is how you "do" OCD)
