Re-refined oil and carcinogens

Not the golden clean oils, like new. I think Valvoline goes farther and vapors it under pressure before re-hydroisomerisation of the oil. Most other recyclings don't re-hydroisomerise the used oil.

Given that as DIYers our contact with fresh oil is minimal (unless bathing in TGMO), while our contact with used oil is more expansive, I doubt that it would matter in the wind-up.

Not even baby oil or Oil of Olay?

Yes, it comes out of the refiner process water clear as an API GroupII base oil.

I use Valvoline NextGen oil in my car regularly, and I must say that compared to even highly-respected 'new' oils, the NextGen I've used is the lightest-colored, clearest-looking motor oil I've seen. Straw-golden.

Now I know that color and clarity aren't a perfect indication of 'cleanliness' in a motor oil, but it sure seems like a pretty good starting point.
