Coolant Hose Problem

I recently bought two molded heater hoses from "Autoplicity". Both of them had red monofilament lines going through them. One of those monofilaments was down the hose enough that it might cause a leak. Is it a common (but stupid) practice in that industry to purposely poke holes in their hoses?

This can happen when buying retail parts. Why should a radiator hose be handled any differently than a pair of socks?

Radiator hoses are hung on the hooks at parts stores with plastic hangers that have 2 teeth,biting into the rubber in 2 places...one inside one outside.Going nearly thru.Thats a stupid move.Always order from a WH that uses cardboard bin boxes for storage.
