An ISO 46 or 68 mineral, synthetic, or vegetable base fluid.

Some states require a pure vegetable base or bio-synthetic oil.

I use any ATF or tractor fluid in my Western plow. It's just a hydrolic system. Western sells a low temp fluid specifically for their plows but mine has never froze up even at -20° It does run a little slow on cold mornings until it gets some use and warms up.
