Reminder: AWD helps to go forward, after that, it is all about tires!

This was a pass the driver shouldn't have attempted and nothing more.
That the Subie was able to put down the power to get around the truck is a testament to the AWD system. That the driver decided to pass into an oncoming plow truck was simple stupidity.
I don't think that any tire could have saved him in this situation.
He should be on his knees giving thanks for having been spared death or serious injury.
Better tires would probably prevent that slide once driver realized it is tight.
Whether it is stupid or not is really not debatable.

Subaru must build a pretty safe chassis, as the 17-20 WRX has less driver deaths than a Prius.... And WRX's are involved in fewer than the average vehicle in accidents where another driver is killed.
For sure some WRX drivers are hoonigans, but it seems on average, this group of drivers and car is average, and oddly enough is better than the regular Impreza?
If you look through the stats, the toyota hybrids have a quite high "other car driver" death rates, so pay attention when to those! The odds they will take you out is around double that of the WRX.
