So I finally got around to cutting open several filters that have been taking up room on my bench.
Not pictured is a Wix 51775 for a Ford 4600 diesel tractor. It was flawless...
First, the group shot. From the left:
-Motorcraft 820s on a 2007 F150/5.4/87k miles. It was on there for ~1500 miles but around a year and a half using MC 5w-20. ADBV was silicone and very pliable. Pleats were wavy in places - moisture?
-Next is a Parts Master (second line Wix) 61372 from a 2005 F150/5.4/unknown milage. Oil was also unknown. ADBV was nitrile? and not very flexible. Pleats were less than the first line Wix and appeared to be thinner. Was also wavy..
-In the middle is a Wix 51372 from a 2002 Town Car/4.6/60ish k miles and about 6k miles on MC 5w-20 ADBV was silicone and in good shape.
-OEM Hyundai filter on a 2001 Hyundai Elantra. Vehicle mileage is around 60k and the oil was Amsoil SSO 0w-30 for around 6k miles. Silicone ADBV was working properly and flexible.
-Next is the much despised e-core (PF-47). Car is a 95 Grand AM (3.1 V6) with 250+K miles. OCI was 4 or 5k miles on PYB? I was expecting the worst, but really this thing was fine. Pleats were uniform, no tears and lots of pleats... The end caps didn't come off without a fight either. Combination valve seemed to be in good shape. Also worth noting is that when I took the picture, I had already wrestled off one of the end caps.
-Last is another PF 47 (classic) on the same Grand Am. 4k oci on Mobil Clean 5000. All I can say is wow! This thing is built very well with lots of pleating. it held up very well. ADBV was nitrile and still quite flexible.
Next, a little closer shot. From left: OEM Hyundai, e-core and classic
