Long story; don't ask.

Is it the Corvette with 6.2L, or is there something bigger?

Again, talking raw displacement only, NEW cars only, and sub-$60k only.

Not a sports car.

I got it, 2011 Mercedes Benz C63, 6.3L V8, $58,200.

For comparison 2011 Chevy Corvette Coupe, 6.2L V8, $49,045.
2011 Chevy Corvette Z06, 7.0L V8, $74,375.

Dodge has the SRT-8s but I wouldnt call the Charger, Challenger, etc "sports cars". Fwiw, the Challenger SRT8 392 costs around $45,000, 6.4L V8.

Corvette seems like a steal compared to the Dodge's price.

Actually, the Mercedes x63 AMG cars use a 6.2L engine, not 6.3 as the model designation suggests. They use "63" and "6.3" badges because 6.3 is historically significant for them.

Well they round up, its pretty close to 6.3L.

The new ones use a 5.5L engine, and Mercedes is just being stupid with there naming.

you can hardly compare an LX/LC Dodge/Chrysler with a Vette, even though I am honored to be held in such fast company.

Even the Challenger is HUGE and very heavy, even a bit porky is not too unkind. Very sweet drivers though with well proven powertrains and tons of unique content compared to other cars in the segment.

The new Mercs are KILLERS, with the twin turbo V8 they really kick [censored]. Check one out, you'll want it. But I've never seen one for 60k anywhere. Might get an older N/A 6.2 liter model used for that.

Their website says 6208 cc: http://www.mercedes-amg.com/#/6-3l-v8

Right. Good call.

Based on all criteria in the subject line, I guess the 392 Challenger wins

He didn't ask for the best, fastest, quickest, lightest, best handling, etc.

Umm, last time I checked, a Muscle Car is NOT a Sports Car.

Let me make a small list of vehicles, and their category:

Challenger - Muscle Car
Corvette - Sports car
Charger - Muscle car if its a large V-8, otherwise its a family car.
Porsche 911 GT3 - Sports car
Ford Mustang - Muscle Car
Ford GT - Exotic Super Car
Ford Tempo - Pathetic Horrible Car
Mazda Speed3 - Hot Hatchback (NOT a sports car, or a muscle car)
Chevy Camaro - Can't see a dang thing out of it Muscle Car

Feel free to continue.

BC.

As of 2012 it's still a "6.3", where did you get the 5.5 info?

How about a neon green Civic with a Type R sticker?

They are starting to transition. The S63, CLS63, and CL63 have the 5.5L twin-turbo engine; the rest are still on the "6.3".

That would be a laughably hideous ricer. (Assuming all the rice equipment, wing, stickers, body kit etc, because that's what I picture when you mention Type-R stickers)
