Exactly, it's not an economic decision, it's a policy decision.

All the more reason to be wary in the least of such programs.

It's easy to say, "but think of the children" or "think of grandma" or whatever.

But being for or against a policy says nothing about if you care for your pet constituency. The only things that say "I care" is what I do with my personal time, talent and treasure.

What bills a political leaders crafts and signs says zero about what he/she care about. Well, save one, they want to "look good" for re-election. Results don't matter, only looking like you care matters.

Good answer. Furthermore, if the true long-term cost of fossil fuel use was built into the sales price, incentives would not be necessary.
