what do you think of off-brand sub-$100 tablets?

ShopKo has the 7 inch Nooks for $99. I know they can be rooted with ICE.

Staples had the 8 gig Nexus 7 for $99 but they have been sold out. That was a great deal!

I've not seen many of these off brand units that are too good. My co-worker got one at WalMart for $139 and it seems to be not too bad. Good display and great performance for the 10 minutes that I play with it.

I'd get a Kindle fire for a few bucks more for me..

My daughter got the 7" E-FUN Nextbook Next712P from Wal-Mart, and loves it. My MIL picked it up for $80. 1GB of DDR3 RAM; 8GB storage, Ice Cream Sandwich, Mini-HDMI, Front-facing camera, and a host of really nice features at that price point.

It works smoothly, or I would have heard her pout about it. A lot.
