Another option is any of the SAE 40s like Chevron's
Delo which is the good 'ol high saps blend.
I would imagine most group III 40s will pass 25W
as might Mobil's 1600, which may have a shot
of PAO...just to get the fluid dynamics in check.
The SAE 40 scale takes up more space
than any of the other grades.
On the light end of the 40's, 20W40 is quite common.
Forgive me, but synthetics in maudite hot weather
maketh no sense to me.
Sans plastique svp.
(Oops, I didn't notice Maple Ridge up there.
Sorry about the train whistles mate, there is
one crossing after another, mile after mile,
and it drives us crazy too.)
Maudite hot weather.
I almost peed myself.
Awesome.
Anyway op if you are burning a 40 grade I'm betting your rings are coked up. I'd try a piston soak first then if that doesn't help then go a grade thicker.
Ford has a 50 grade for the track pack mustang. Maybe it'll work however historically 5w-50 shear out of grade pouring out of the bottle and the 40 grades retain their viscosity better.
Unless you use a 20w50. They hold their grade well in motorcycles, and loads of anti-wear agents
