Any recommendations for viscosity for Kanzaki Tuff Torq Hydrostatic tranmissions (K6X, K7X...) used in Deere, Simplicity and a few other lawn and garden tractors?

The factory spec (Deere & TT) was synthetic 10W30 but at some point a couple years back it was widely circulated that they were either switching to or recommending M1 15W-50 for hotter climates. Valid or urban legend?

thanks,

Direct from the manufacturer:

"Included oil is 10w30 engine oil that is commonly available, 5w50 synthetic oil is available for ground engaging applications."

Given that line, you could pretty much run about any oil you wanted.

Indeed you probably could! My Deere service manual only lists synthetic 10w30. Was that quote from tufftorq.com? I missed it.

I'm thinking Redline MTL would be an idealic replacement and outlast motor oils... thoughts?
