i have a 1996 virago 1100. dont have a maual. couldnt find any info googling it.

what i need 2 know is what weight is the rear diff fluid in this bike.
i have some 75w90 amsoil i would like to use but not sure id this would be ok. can anyone help me out

Your Amsoil will work just fine.
The manual calls for SAE80 API GL-4 Hypoid Gear oil.
The capacity is 0.2 Lit (0.32 QT.)
DO NOT Fill it to the top of the hole.
It should be about 1/4 of inch below.
Look in the tool kit that came with the bike.(if you got one)
Under the seat or one of side covers is were they use to put them.. It should have a little plastic dip stick for checking the diff. fluid.

From the Amsoil site -

AMSOIL LONG LIFE SYNTHETIC GEAR LUBE 75W-90 replaces competitors' 75W-90 and 80W-90 viscosity grades
Can also be used in rear axles where API Service GL-4 lubricant is recommended.

actually i was wrong i have amsoil synthetic gear lube 80w90. says it specs 4 api gl-5 & mt-1, mil-prf-2105e, dana shaes 234, mack go-j, arvin/meritor 0-76d. will this be ok? sorry 2 be a pain the the arse but i dont wanna mess up my bike..

If it says GL-5, you're good.

I put Redline Lightweight Shockproof (75W-140)in my Virago's drive unit and it's smooth and quiet. The unit barely gets warm after an hour at highway speeds.

I guess Shockproof doesn't expand or foam, because I filled it right to the top of the fill hole last August and have never seen any signs of it coming out the vent.
