used Oil Filter disposal ? where ?

does ADVANCE AUTO take used oil filters ? Or possibly local dealerships ? Or other ? Hate to throw in garbage .

It depends on your state and county.

Our area of California offers curb-side oil filter recyling.

Often quick lube places or other shops will take small quantities off your hand. Just ask. Also, some Walmarts accept used oil and used oil filters.

I recycled mine at AutoZone the first time, but since they don't recycle filters I took them to Wal-Mart since they take both oil AND filters, which is nice

Call your City Hall. Mine has a place where you can dump almost anything that is hazardous for free,

Earth911.org has listings under their used motor oil recycling locations. Apparently walmart takes used oil and filters.

If you have to dump in trash puncturing the domed end opposite the thread, and piercing the ADBV, helps get a lot more oil out. Better than nothing.

Here, in Wisconsin, my village site provides a used oil bulk tank & 55 gal drum containers for disposal of used filters & the jugs/containers that the used oil was hauled in with.
