Lake Speed Jr not only owns Speediagnostix but is also VP at Total Seal. He does tech talks at racing events across the country as well as a video podcast called Hidden Horsepower where he, Don McAskill, Joe Castillo, Billy Godbold, Benjamin Strader, Matt Hartford, and many other big names in high end engine building and racing dig deep into technical topics. Their most recent one was a really good one about exposing the flaws in A-B-A testing. He's very well versed in what he does. If he advises something, you can take it to the bank.
Sooooo...so you're saying he can afford to get that thing lasered off his lip...

Umm, he's like the VP of sales for Driven, along with being a VP for Total Seal rings.
Ok. I figured he had probably , maybe moved on from Gibbs and into his own business or other things. I am sure a guy with his experience and knowledge can be very much in demand. So , not only is he very knowledegeable on many lubrication / mechanic subjects he sounds like he has several irons in the fire. He is certainly someone whose opinions I value. (y)

After scanning through this thread again it begged the question to me: Unavailing the superiority to what? PP, lol. They lost my business years ago. There are plenty of products from other oil companies that are imo superior to PU, and cheaper and easier to get.

What I like most about his videos is his ability to take the really technical info and break it down to my 6th grade level. I don't know why, but I trust and believe what he says. I have corresponded with him 2 times and he has promptly responded back. Another +.

@deleted member ????

Is there a bounty???? Asking for a friend.....

Dam-natio memoriae is a modern Latin phrase meaning "condemnation of memory", indicating that a person is to be excluded from official accounts. Depending on the extent, it can be a case of historical negationism. There are and have been many routes to dam-natio memoriae, including the destruction of depictions, the removal of names from inscriptions and documents, and even large-scale rewritings of history. The term can be applied to other instances of official scrubbing; in history the practice is seen as long ago as the aftermath of the reign of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten in the 14th century BC.

This video is a deep dive into the differences between Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil and regular Pennzoil Platinum oil. Mr. Lake Speed Jr., a certified lubrication specialist, uses a variety of tests to analyze the two oils. The key takeaway is that there's no difference in viscosity, but there is a significant difference in oxidation value, with Ultra Platinum oil having a lower value.

The Ultra Platinum oil boasts of "extreme protection", a claim that is substantiated by the presence of higher levels of calcium, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, molybdenum, and boron. These additives and detergents, particularly the borate ester, are responsible for the oil's friction-reducing properties. Mr. Lake Speed Jr. uses an infrared trace test, F-T-I-R, to identify these esters.

The video also touches upon the differences between conventional and GTL base oils. The GTL base oil has a narrower bottom than the conventional base oil, and the ester spike in Pennzoil Platinum is likely a borate ester, which provides extra wear protection when combined with other additives.

In conclusion, Mr. Lake Speed Jr. is convinced of the superior properties of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil and plans to use it in his Porsche. He promises to share his experience in a future video, encouraging viewers to subscribe to his channel. The video is a comprehensive analysis of the two oils, providing viewers with a clear understanding of what makes Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil stand out.

My son has been using PUP 0W-20 in his 2014 GMC Sierra 5.3 with AFM. 146,000 miles he has had no problem with stuck lifters or cam damage. We do change it every 5,000 miles. We do not wait for the OLM to go off. I think PUP is helping avoid all the problems you hear about with Active Fuel Management.

Should I be aiming to use their 0w40 if I want 5w30? All of Pennzoil UOAs show too much thinning out
Blackstone labs has said different engines have their own tendency to shear at different rates. Look for UOAs already done on your engine and report back.
