torque wrench cal

At my old job every piece of test equipment went to Davis Calibration (now Tektronix) in GA every year for certification.

From the most basic to all the high end test equipment.

If you have a vice and some known weights you could check the calibration yourself.

For example clamp a nut in the vice, attach the torque wrench horizontally, hang a known weight at a measured distance. Say for example 40 lbs at 18" equals 60 ftlb.

Or tighten a fastener such as a wheel lug nut using the same method and then check the torque with your torque wrench.

There are a lot of variables in torquing a fastener such as surface finish, dry or lubed, etc so the bolt tension you are trying to achieve is never going to be perfect.

just buy new one from habor freights

shipping+ celebration can get super expensive.

I buy one , once every 1.5 years.

I thought people were calibrating them (dial, or digital) with a "beam" type of torque wrench? Cobble up 2 sockets so there is a 1/2" square at the top and bottom and go for it.
