Good evening everyone.
I was given DR field and brush mower. It has finish mower attachment, it is older with 11HP BS motor but looks like it has been taken care of.
I have changed ignition coil, oil and belt. It's been working really good. Today it was noticing that transmission belt is slipping more than usual and after checking it out it out I realized that it was very old and rubber was already getting sticky.
While under neath of it I realized that it is pretty "wet" around the transmission pulley like it's been leaking and slinging grease around.
I've been reading about those peerless
transmission and found the grease it requires.
I really don't want to take the whole mower apart to change a seal.
So my question is can I just fill the transmission with other grease (like red and tacky or HD green grease)? I really don't want to spend $60 on a jug of their special grease. Or would be okay to use 85/140 gear lube?
Thanks for your help.
