My son did some research, including asking friends and settled on a 2013 Cub Cadet 50 inch Kawasaki Engine Tractor to mow his grass at his new 1 acre lawn (new to him house).

Any comments? I thought it might be a little large (I thought maybe 42 or 46 inch). I use a 28 inch Snapper Riding Lawn Mower on about one half acre of grass (40 minute cut).

Nice machine. The Kawasaki equipped riders have Tufftorq transaxles as opposed to Hydrogear. Both are good, but Tufftorqs have been better in years past.

Have your son set that 50" deck so it doesn't ride/bounce along on the ground and it will last a long time. A scrape and blow-off after each use is important to. Try to avoid using the hose even if it's got "wash out ports" on the deck.

Might be a little overkill for his yard size.
The Kawasaki engine will last a long time with average care.
The rest of the tractor may fall apart if its anything like my step dads Cub Cadet.
