Should brake fluid be flushed on a regular basis?

I've been doing the turkey baster method for ten years. I'm on a second set of brake pads on my 96 sunfire and still on OEM rotors. brakes work flawlessly. But I also use extended life coolant for five years, air filters 3 years. oil changes over 5k miles. :)

Well, I changed the brake fluid via the baster and then bled it down today on the bike. The front brake was just a little reddish/brown. But the clutch fluid, was this nasty looking brown goop that looked like water, it was really, really, really "thin", compared to the DOT 4 stuff I was pouring in.

After I replaced it, I worked the clutch quitea bit, and it has I believe a significantly better feel. The brake didn't seem to change much.

Next stop, rear brakes.
